Images of our bakery
This is a placeholder image used to practise writing alt text. Upload a real image from the WordPress Media Library during the exercise and examine its filename, dimensions, format, filesize and alt text.
Class exercise: Replace this externally hosted placeholder with a local upload, then compare an empty alt attribute with a concise descriptive alternative such as “Sourdough loaves displayed on a wooden bakery counter”. Decorative imagery may correctly use empty alt text. Resize the image and use WebP or AVIF when supported, then compare transferred bytes. A remote placeholder does not demonstrate WordPress image optimisation by itself.
